How to switch languages on your Orbit Reader 20 Plus
Switch Language Profiles
The Orbit Reader 20 Plus allows 4x language profiles to be set. This refers to the braille tables available to read and create files. We set the following profiles prior to delivery to clients. The braille tables are saved on the SD card in the folder “locale”.
Profile 1 – UEB grade 1
Profile 2 – UEB grade 2
Profile 3 – Computer braille
Profile 4 – Afrikaans grade 2 (or any other SA language)
The hotkeys for switching between profiles are Select + 1, Select + 2, Select + 3 and Select + 4 respectively.
We load upfront in memory both UEB grade 1 and grade 2 languages. If you a select another profile (like 4 in this case), a message may come up saying that the language is not loaded. You must then simply remove a language to allow loading of a new one, after which you will be able to toggle to the desired profile.
Remove/Add Languages
The Remove Language menu option lets you remove language files from the internal memory of your unit so that you can make space for loading other languages. You can scroll through the loaded languages using the Right or Left Arrow keys and press Select to remove a file.
The Add Language menu option lets you load language files from the SD card to the internal memory of your Orbit Reader 20 Plus. You can scroll through the available language files on your SD card by pressing the Right or Left Arrow keys and press Select to add a language.
