How to Switch Languages on Your Orbit Reader 20 Plus
Switch Language Profiles
The Orbit Reader 20 Plus allows 4x language profiles to be set. This refers to the braille tables available to read and create files. We set the following profiles prior to delivery to clients. The braille tables are saved on the SD card in the folder “locale”.
Profile 1 – Eng 1
Profile 2 – Eng 2
Profile 3 – Computer braille
Profile 4 – Afrikaans grade 2 (or any other SA language)
The hotkeys for switching between profiles are Select + 1, Select + 2, Select + 3 and Select + 4 respectively.
UEB Grade 1 and 2 is pre-loaded onto the SD Card within the “locale” folder. If you want to load a UEB language in the applicable Profile, you will be required to first remove the Afrikaans language in Profile 4 to add the UEB language. Please see the information below regarding this.
Remove/Add Languages
The Remove Language menu option lets you remove language files from the internal memory of your unit so that you can make space for loading other languages. You can scroll through the loaded languages using the Right or Left Arrow keys and press Select to remove a file.
The Add Language menu option lets you load language files from the SD card to the internal memory of your Orbit Reader 20 Plus. You can scroll through the available language files on your SD card by pressing the Right or Left Arrow keys after pressing the Select Button on the Remove or Add Language option and press Select again on the preferred language to load that language.
Press Dot-7 or Backspace to return to the Menu options list.
