Deactivate Your Duxbury License Before Upgrading to Windows 11
Before upgrading to Windows 11, it is important to deactivate your Duxbury Braille Translator (DBT) license. This ensures that your license remains valid and can be reactivated after the upgrade. If Duxbury is not deactivated beforehand, the upgrade process may change key system information, causing the software to recognize the installation as a new computer. As a result, your activation could be lost, and you might not be able to reactivate without assistance from Duxbury support. Once Windows 11 is successfully installed and stable, you can reinstall and reactivate Duxbury using your existing license details. Following this process prevents activation issues and ensures a smooth transition to the new operating system.
Deactivating Duxbury before upgrading to Windows 11
- Open Duxbury Braille Translator (DBT). Launch the program as you normally would.
- Go to the “Help” menu on the top toolbar and select “About” or press ALT+H and then the letter A.
- Navigate to and select “deactivate” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the deactivation (DBT will contact the Duxbury licensing server to release your license from the current computer).
- Wait for a confirmation message indicating that deactivation was successful. Once confirmed, your license is safely stored on Duxbury’s server and can be reactivated later.
Reactivating Duxbury after upgrading to Windows 11

- Wait for the activation confirmation message. Once successful, DBT will be fully functional on your upgraded Windows 11 system.
