Set JAWS to Automatically Start on Your Computer

To set JAWS to automatically start when Windows starts, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure that you are logged on as Administrator or that your profile has administrator rights.
  2. Start JAWS manually if it is not already running. This can be done by double clicking the JAWS icon on the Desktop or pressing WINDOWS Key+R, type the JAWS and the version number followed by enter.
  3. Press INSERT+J to open the JAWS application window or the JAWS context menu.
  4. Press ALT+O on the Application window or only the letter O for the context menu to open the Options menu, then press B for Basics.
  5. In the Basics dialog, Tab twice to and select the “Automatically Start JAWS” button.
  6. In the Start JAWS Options dialog:
    • If you have an Administrator account, select the “Start JAWS at the Log On Screen” checkbox.
    • Set the “Start JAWS after log on for this user” combo box to “Always.”
  7. Press enter or choose OK to save your changes and then press Escape to close the Basic Settings dialog. JAWS will now start automatically each time Windows starts.
