Caring for Your Orbit Braille Device
Proper storage and regular charging can help maintain the long-term reliability of your Orbit device, particularly when it is not being used regularly.
Orbit devices automatically run an internal maintenance cycle every 24 hours, even when switched off. This cycle exercises the braille pins and helps maintain their reliability over time. As this process requires sufficient battery power, it is important that devices that are kept in storage should be fully charged at least once every two months.
Charging Routine
- Fully charge the device upon receipt.
- Recharge the device at least once every two months. A full charge typically takes three to four hours.
- Disconnect the charger once the device is fully charged and return it to storage. There is no need to switch the device on or perform any manual testing after charging.
Storage Precautions
- Store the device under the environmental conditions specified in the user documentation.
- Keep the device in its original packaging, or other suitable protective packaging, to prevent dust accumulation.
- Do not stack unboxed devices or place objects on top of them. Properly boxed units and cartons may be stacked.
Important
Ensure that the two-month charging routine is followed for all Orbit devices kept in storage. Regular charging helps ensure that the device’s automatic maintenance cycle can continue to operate as intended.
