Starting with Jaws 16, the traditional “Standard” version of Jaws was discontinued and replaced with the “Home” version. This version is designed to be used exclusively by the Home user in a non-commercial setup. The advantage of this change is that Home versions will be compatible with the same operating systems as Jaws Professional. This is necessary since most new computers supplied today will be pre-installed with Windows 7 Pro or Windows 8.1 SL or Pro. As a Home user, you now no longer need to purchase a Jaws Pro version simply because of the operating system that is being supplied with your new computer.
The operating systems currently being supported by Jaws is Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2008.
For all prior (15 and before) Jaws versions, the Windows Operating System support will remain unchanged as below:
All JAWS Professional products can be used with all 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Windows 8.1, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 & 2012. You can also use 32-bit versions of Windows XP operating systems and Windows Server 2003.
All JAWS Standard products can be used with all 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Windows 8 SL, Windows 7 Home Premium, and Windows 7 Home Basic. You can also use 32-bit Windows XP Home operating systems.
Multi-user buying options are available for JAWS Professional licenses.
